Match Report
20th
July 2006 - at the Bush
Well, the Bush had a very strong side out
Pete & Will Nettleton (fantastic fielder good at everything)
a few good young cricketers plus the odd player to make up the team
and Barry of course.
They won the toss and decided to bat both their openers made maximums
well Will edged one to Phil from Nigel at 24. Kevin (Bills Broth
in law) then hit a maximum. At that time both our front-line bowlers
Nigel and Eric were bowled out (4 overs).
Chris and Nick Scott slowed the run rate a little Chris getting
two wickets and me two catches (one was Barry so I guess that doesn't
count). Then it was left to Pete W and me to bowl the last four
overs. I managed a couple of wickets again courtesy of a Phill Todd
catch and Pete W was unlucky with a couple of dropped catches but
it was a big total 126.
Cameron & Nick S opened the batting and it was good to see Cameron
hit form at last-steadily moving the score along. Nick was caught
but did not waste any overs Chris L made a useful contribution.
Cameron got a welcome max and Mike Chase was batting like Dexter.
I came in at 5 with us well below the improbable run rate lasted
only 10 balls faced 8 then Eric said I had to retire!
Mike C completed a classy max Pete W was slow off the mark and was
unfortunately run out.
His luck will change
Eric picked out the best fielder Will and was caught-unusually cheaply
for Eric.
Nick Scott and Nigel made short but useful contributions before
Dave Murray decided to show Eric it was better hitting over Will
N head than at him. Dave M little cameo was vital.
Phill batted sensibly as the tail continued to wag.
Cameron came back in again only to sacrifice his wicket to get to
the strikers end knowing that both Mike and I were still to re-bat.
Mike C wasted no time in hitting a glorious 4 through the covers
to notch up the winning runs with 2 balls to spare. with Phill the
not out batsman.
This was a great unselfish team effort and a very exciting match
played in a lovely spirit.
WIN for West Linton
