May 2006 - against the SEDD Planners
Captains Report.
First the good news all bowlers bowled well against a strong Planners
line up 3 wickets for debutant Nick Scott..Erics pace secured 2
breaking the bails with sheer pace in the process..
NICK SCHIERLOH took the only catch of the full 40 overs
Chasing 109 WLG were 61-0 with both openers reaching their maximum..
Dave Wright 25not out got his usual 25 odd not out.
Only Peter Walker on debut had lost his wicket in a tight stumped
decision.
So lots of overs and not many runs needed.
More good news John Birchmore batted the longest ever innings for
WLG in a 20-20.
Managing to block out a full eleven overs and only just failing
on the penultimate ball to see out a maiden final over with 4 runs
needed for victory. This left Nick Wilcock stranded -who had hit
a cracking 4 off the final ball of the previous over.
So a scampered single from Nigel of the last ball, who had bowled
tidally, left the WLG 3 runs of victory.
